According to an article by Shaun Chavis one way to cut 500 calories a day is to spend the afternoon knitting. Number 21 on the list of 50 suggestions is as follows:
21. Get out your knitting needles. An afternoon of knitting can burn more than 500 calories (at a rate of about 100 an hour).
