Where is the knitting you say???????

Happy Easter.....

I went to the doctor on Friday because I have been having some episodes where I have trouble breathing. After a breathing test and a chest x-ray I discovered I have pneumonia in my left lung (not phenomenon as I accidentally told a friend in a email and had her scratching her head trying to figure out what could be wrong with me). Jimmy has been so attentive and loving this weekend. This morning he made Easter breakfast:

While Poo basked in the sun:

And Kiki was excited to explore the library:

Ok so I realize I haven't blogged about knitting lately. While I haven't focused 100% of my free time on knitting I have still had the needles clicking. I am juggling 3 projects at the moment but I can only discuss two of them here as the third is a special Christmas gift surprise. If you are on Rav you can see this project on my projects page.

First there is the Forest Canopy Shawl round two. This one is for me. I am knitting it with two strands of lace weight since I have discovered I am not a fan of fine lace weight yarn and needed a bit more substance to knit with.

Second is the Simple Knitted Bodice. I am knitting it with 100% bamboo yarn purchased at Gail Knits yarn shop in Las Vegas during our trip last month. This yarn is AMAZINGLY soft. I can't wait to finish this summer sweater.

Taa Daa.... The finished kitchen project

First take a peek at the herb seedlings.

Drum roll plzzzzz.......

Thanks to Jimmy for hanging the shelves for me. :-)

I can't wait for these little plants to grow and hang over the edge of the shelves. How exciting!

Kitchen Project - Part 1

This empty canvas is the area above the breakfast nook of our kitchen bay window. Since having it painted last fall it is the one area I have had exception to and have been brain storming what to do in this area. Anyone who knows me well knows I love plants. Well why not put some plants up there?

Clip some spider babies......

Clip some of the vine......

Paint some clay pots.....

Paint some shelves.....

Stay tuned for part 2 soon.

Herb Spouts aren't just for salads man......

Poopy is ready for spring time.... Unfortunately he is going to be pissed off to find that we might not be so willing to let him wonder out in the courtyard. We are still trying to figure out what has caused his severe dermatitis issues. Is it food related? Is he allergic to Kiki? Did he get bit by a flea? The steroid shot helped clear him up for a couple weeks but is starting to come back. We have switched him back to the "old" brand of food to see if he is having an allergic reaction to the "new" brand of food.

Spring is getting closer so say the herb spouts......

The basil spouts.

Oregano spouts......
Catnip sprouts. Oh are the kitties excited.

Sweet Marjoram.

Think Spring.....

Monday (3/3/08) I finally got some herb seeds into dirt with the help of Lindsey.

Today when I checked on them and I was pleasantly surprised to find spouts. Check out these babies:

Kiki got her own little garden of kitty cat grass too.....

Wake me when this S#!T has melted, please!

Did I go to sleep in Columbus and wake up in Buffalo? This was the scene this morning when I looked in my back yard. ACK! I feel like I am back in upstate New York with one BIG difference. Oh yeah the lack of mass snow removal equipment. I suppose it is a good thing it is Saturday because even if I wanted to drive out of my driveway it would be impossible. There is at least a foot of snow on the roads and not a plow in sight.

About mid-morning our friend Arla called said if you hear your garage door don't be alarmed I am coming over to shovel your drive. WHAT? You actually want to come and shovel this crap. Jimmy and I had basically resigned ourselves to the fact we would go out and deal with all this S#!T after it stops coming down. Here is Arla with shovel in hand:

Thank you again Arla.....

Is it springtime or herbtime?

So there is about a 3.5 inch clearance under the couch. Kiki decided she was going to get her head and body under it. She worked and worked and worked until finally........

Poo pounced her and told her just what a stupid waste of time it was since she was not going to get her head any further under the damn thing......

After a couple minutes of scraping they went on their merry way!

It is time to start the herb seedlings so they are ready to go in the ground on or around May 15th. I grew up in Webster New York where Harris Seeds is a staple garden store. After moving to Columbus I was pleased to discover I could still bring a little Harris Seeds to me by ordering my herb seeds online. Below is this years selection:

Basil, Sunflowers (both tall and potted), Parsley, Catnip, and Cilantro
Sweet Marjoram and Rosemary are new additions to my plantings this year. They sent me a freebie of lettuce blend I hope to have success with too. Within the next week I will be starting these little babies.
This is what I have been knitting this week. It is the short sleeved version of the Simple Knitted Bodice by Stitch Diva Studios. Check it out here: http://www.stitchdiva.com/ProductInfo.aspx?productid=SDS-026
I am knitting it with the Southwest Trading Company Bamboo yarn I bought at Gail Knits in Las Vegas. This yarn is AMAZING. So soft and no splitting at all. Even when I ripped back a few rows and started over there wasn't any splitting.
